Hi, I’m Donna, a Scottish stained glass artist based in Aberdeen and the hands behind The Glassy Chick. 💕
I’ve always loved creating and designing, having studied Graphic Design and spent years working on creative projects in one way or another. But stained glass was something I’d wanted to pursue for many, many years.
Four years ago, I finally took the plunge — and I’ve never looked back.
I genuinely feel like I’m living my dream, creating beautiful stained glass pieces every day. I love everything about the process: choosing the colours and textures of the glass, seeing a design come together piece by piece, and most of all, watching sunlight pass through the finished piece and fill a room with colour.
One of the things I love most about stained glass is that it never looks exactly the same twice. As the sun moves throughout the day, the light changes, the colours shift and the shadows dance across the walls. There’s something pretty magical about that, and I never get tired of seeing it. ✨
I create my pieces using the traditional Tiffany / copper foil method, and I absolutely love every part of the process — from the initial idea and designing, right through to cutting, grinding, foiling and soldering each individual piece of glass.
Designing is one of my favourite parts, especially when I get to work with customers to create something completely personal to them. There’s nothing quite like the WOW! moment when someone sees their finished commission for the first time. That reaction honestly makes my day. 🥰
Every piece I create is handmade by me, with love, care and a whole lot of passion. No two handmade pieces are ever quite the same, which is what makes them so special.
